Story of jolene makeup

This page reveals the little experiences Jolene has had in her work as a professional makeup and hair artist.

Film and TV

On the set of Code of Law

"I have a passion for film and TV. I’m living a dream of being part of the story-telling process of writers and directors.
It’s a playground for everyone involved-the actors, crew and production team. It’s wonderful to watch the actors create the characters in the script, play them out on screen and slowly develop the personalities of the characters they play."

Fashion

Fashion lookbook

"Fashion causes my heart to race and eyes to widen in excitement.
I like working on stylised fashion shoots for fashion lookbooks, editorial spreads and fashion shows. It’s one of the most satisfying work for my craft, where creativity flows freely. Well, almost. Of course the client’s word is final, but I get to exchange creative ideas with art directors and very often create fresh work because of the synergy I have with the team."

Avant garde

Leopard-inspired makeup

"I love working on interesting stylised shoots, especially if I am allowed to create more avant garde looks. This is one of the more exciting shoots, where I got to create a leopard inspired makeup."

Weddings

Actual day bridal makeup and hairstyling

"Weddings, to me, tell stories about the couples involved. Not one wedding is crafted the same way as another. Every couple’s story is unique. It’s a pleasure to witness first-hand the love, joy, laughter and little quirks that couples share. I always walked away blessed by each couple I worked with.
My style in bridal makeup and hairstyling has always been soft, romantic and simple. I believe the styling should complement the bride, not grab attention away from her. She should always look radiant, happy and herself. I would conceptualise looks that are unique to each bride.
I am involved in their biggest events: the pre (or post) wedding photo shoots, the wedding actual day and night events, and also the styling of the bridal party- bridesmaids, family and relatives."

Corporate

From photography shoot for Silkair brochure

"It's an endless world of possibilities with the corporate world. Companies that bring to the world products, services and experiences have a constant need to create content to present to end consumers. I play a part in doing that. I create looks for the talents and models for corporate photo shoots for brochures and print ads, as well as corporate videos for in-house training and viral videos.
I even work on business profile shoots for individual business owners and annual report shoots."
